mailbox you create is a separate file.>

I hope you and the other listers here don't mind if I speak up more
strongly for Claris Emailer here. I did recommend it recently, but I kept
it very brief and didn't go into any details. Now that you post this, I'd
like to share the details.

I've been running ClarisEmailer on my Macs since 1996. Not only do I find
it powerful, flexible and rock-stable, it's also really easy to set up,
unlike Eudora (that was the one I tried first -- never could get it to
run at all). In my years of emailing, I've found that Claris Emailer 2.0
has worked charms first with a Performa 475 on OS 7.5.3, then a 7200/120
on OS 8.1 and finally a G3/233 with OS 9.1. Version 1.0 of this emailer
is still on my Powerbook 190 (it came that way), but probably not for
long (see end of this post). And yes, I save virtually all of my email
correspondence. Some emails in particular I save for future reference
material, knowing I'll want to go back to it, and Claris Emailer has a
really nice search feature in it that I can run to find a particular
email or emails which contain specific information I'd like to look at
again. On the subject of possible corruption of old emails, I have
emails dating back to 1996 and none of them are corrupted.

<You can get the full feature set if you accept a small ad on your
screen while Eudora is frontmost. (I haven't found it obstrusive.) If
you don't want the ads, you can get it for free but with fewer
features.>

Why have to look at ads at all, I gotta ask. Recently a lister posted an
URL from which Claris Emailer 2.0 could be downloaded for free -- in
response, IIRC, to the person who originally asked listers about getting
both a free emailer if possible, and a Microsoft or Microsoft-compatible
word processing application he'd be willing to pay for if necessary. I
saved that URL because my Powerbook 190 only has 1.0 and I'm planning on
upgrading it with the 2.0 when I get around to it. The 1.0 is actually
good there. I haven't had problems with it, and it's also true that the
only time I use the Powerbook to pick up email is when I'm out of state,
which averages only a couple of times per month at most. The only reason
why I'm even considering this upgrade is because I'm so accustomed to the
2.0 from constant daily usage at home and the 1.0 "feels weird" because
I'm not used to it -- even though it totally functions. But still, I've
never had any kind of malfunctions whatsoever with Claris Emailer 1.0 or
2.0 and it's nice not to have to look at any ads either. (But geez, I'm
certainly beginning to sound like one, aren't I?) LOL.
