Most likely it's not a RAM issue since it does work. But it should be replaced regardless.
I would guess it needs a pram battery first off, appropriate RAM, and maybe a re-format of the hard drive and a new install of the OS to freshen it up.
You will have FPM or EDO RAM, but I have FPM dimms in my 5500 and it hasn't caused any problems. Your 128MB RAM stick shouldn't hurt anything but it's not helping either.
Have you opened it up to make sure the fans and the interior is clean ? Heat build-up could cause your problems if there is a lot of dust bunnies inside.
Good Luck,
Ron

Hi
I have a 6500/275 that I traded for. It seems to be in pretty good shape
except the ram. It has a 128 MB chip installed, but the ASP only shows 64
MB. 128 MB is supposed to be the top for this machine. What I am asking is
there any danger of causi8ng harm to the mobo or anything else by leaving
the 128 in place. I haven't pulled the chip out to actually see what it is.
The 6500 uses EDO 5V. The machine is not real stable, it locks up often, and
requires a complete reboot to get it started again.
Thanks
