Hi All,

OT but I Didn't want to join another list to ask and have no responses from Imac list yet.

I have a 20 GB hard drive partitioned with 5.9 GB (useable) for system software/
applications and 12.7 GB (useable) for data. I got my Mac one year old in nearly new condition already configured this way and have never changed it. It has OSX 10.2.8 and OS 9.2.2 and with Apps has only 1 GB of space left.

1. Is it possible to repartition in OSX without having to reinitialize the HD and
reinstalling OS and Apps? AND not lose anything! I'm not too familiar with messing with hard drive structures other than on new drives or reinitialized drives.

2. Are there any bloated largely unnecessary elements or files in OSX I can delete to make room? For example Receipts file seems to be duplicates of all my software downloads and the Printer file seems to have excessive stuff for printers I will never use. After all, if I change or add a printer later can't I install the needed software at that time?

In OS 9 I knew what everything was but OSX is still too new to me to start
trashing and lopping things off. I use my computer for basic home computing, email, internet and home ethernet network (3 Macs).

(Umm, yeah, a larger HD or additional external drive would be the ultimate solution but I'm looking for help/suggestions in making the most of the HD space I have. )

Thanks - Mike
