--- I have a Yamaha 2100E and Roxio Toast 5. both of
which have worked flawlessly. The 2100E connects with
firewire from a Western digital drive. The drive goes
to a Belkin PCI card in my 8600. I tried to burn a CD
yesterday, and my toast said there was no CD recorder
found. I tried starting the recorder before I started
the Mac-no change. The ASP shows no such 2100
connected. I'm looking at it. It's connected like it
always has been when it worked. What happened? P.S.
The drive works perfectly.>> David sweating his mouse

Repeatedly pull and insert both cable ends to break through any film or corrosion on the contacts. Or use rubbing alcohol or electronic contact cleaner with an old toothbrush on all contact pins and sockets.

Is the Belkin card recognized in ASP ? if not you may need to do the same cleaning to it. or reseat it.

Temperature cycles as well as ambient temperature and household contaminants such as tobacco smoke can cause loss of continuity.
