I picked up a 9500/132 at the thrift store today for $15.
I know how much of a PITA the case is on the 9500 is. That's not why I got it. After removing the cover, I saw 2 68-pin SCSI drives (2.1GB I think), a TwinTurbo 128 video card, and an Adaptec 2940UW or the Mac equivalent inside.
Of course, when something like this is at a thrift store, the inside of it is covered in a thick layer of dust.
I've taken it apart to the chassis and got the dust out, and will be trying it out shortly.
One question: Can you put the 9500 logic board in an 8600/200 case?

I think it's an 8500 case for the 9500. The mobo is probably smaller than the 8600 so should fit.

I meant placing a logic board from a 9500 into a case for an 8600. An 8500 is shorter than an 8600 or 9500. The 8600 case has a spacer to fill in the gap from having a shorter logic board in it. I just thought with the SCSI card, USB, a 10/100 network card and the Twin Turbo card it would be nice to have more than 3 slots in a case that's a LOT easier to open than the blasted 9500 case is. At the moment, the only difference on the ends of the logic board is that the connectors on the 9500 are facing towards the top of the case, and the ones on the 8600 are facing toward the side of the case.
At the moment, there may be a change of plans. I'm trying to install 8.1 on an external 2GB drive to allow it to have network access. It keeps stopping through the installation in different areas. This is with the SCSI card and the 2 68-pin drives connected. I'll try it with those items disconnected.
