I don't know much specifically about Eudora except hearing good things but
some troubles like this have occurred to me in OE and I have solved them by
compacting the data base and allowing the app lots of memory (eg. I give 32
MB). The latter has been discussed by others. The former is a process that
gets rid of the gaps in the file when messages are deleted and such... When
you delete a message, it still leaves a space that is taken up in the file
for that folder, roughly speaking. It is wasted space and being rid of it
improves the speed and efficiency of the program. In IE, this housekeeping
is done by holding down the option key as one fires up the app... There may
be some equivalent procedure in Eudora. These mail apps can get pretty full
with data these days ...
