All of you are probably sick of my posts by now...

I had a 7100av and I currently have a g4-B&W. I picked up the 8500av for my daughter.

Now it has audio/video abilities and I am curious. The AV on my 7100 and 6100 were not worth anything more than the NEATO factor. From what I read the 8500's AV is o.k.

Questions

Can the 8500 use a TV as it's primary display?

Yes. The TV / monitor has to be plugged into the RCA connector when the computer boots in order for the software to enable it. But a TV doesn't make for a good computer display, but try it.

If you upgrade the video memory to 4 Mb you can display on both the RCA and Mac Video Ports.

What is the best/cheapest video editing tool available?

I would like to record VHS tapes and copy movies if possible. I understand quality will be 30 fps at 320x240.

You probably need a G3 accelerator to get that performance. -- -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting
