Hi Karen, I had the same problem with the same set up a few weeks ago.
I've got a 9600/300 running 9.1 (no G3) Have you tried a clean install from the OS 9.1 system CD. It did it for me and I then went on to find that despite Disk Tools and Norton Disk Doctor finding nothing amiss. If you can do a clean install and it gets things going I labeled all the Previous System Folder files their own colour (a Rusty Brown) and introduced them back into the 'clean' system folder bit by bit. Eventualy I found it was an Explorer preference file that seemed to be the root of the problem. I therefore trashed both IE and OE and then re-installed them. My limited knowlege gave me a bit of a shock when I opened up the default windows for both of them untill I remembered that the settings and things were still in the Previous System Folder. So I moved the old 'rusty brown' ones in to the 'Clean' system folder and trashed the 'new' blue and ghostly ones. Long winded I know but who knows it might help and the colour (Rusty Brown) is not important.
