Hi listers...
I recently obtained a OSX (10.1) install disk. I am totally virginic(!) when
it comes to OSX; how useable is OSX 10.1 compared to the later versions,
Jaguar and Panther...
Unofficial OS X Version history:
10.0: Wow, it runs! Quick, boot back into OS 9 so you can actually *do* something.
10.1: Hey, I can actually do something with this. still boot back into OS 9 for most work though.
10.2: Cool, I only have to boot back into OS 9 once or twice a week. Damn you Quark!!<Shakes fist in air>
10.3: OS 9? Wasn't that a steam-powered thing they used back in the 30's or something?
..speaking of which, what is the "animal" name for 10.1? Tabby? ;-)

Also, I am interested in possibly putting OSX on my 7600. It current has a
500mhz processor from Sonnet & about 384mb RAM in it. It also has two HDs; both
10gb.
What is the recommended upgrade path for my 7600 to run OSX? Instead of
having to partition the current main HD with the classic OS on it, couldn't I just
install OSX on the 2nd HD?
The recommended upgrade is joining the Unsupported OS X list <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> and the XPostFacto forums at <http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/Framework.cfm? page=XPostFacto.html> (the latter cost $10, but it's compensating Ryan Rempel for creating XPostFacto, which you'll need to get it running.)
