I dunno. I think I'd try all the first-line defenses like: pull the CPU and
reseat it. Hit the cuda switch for 30 seconds with the Mac plugged in but
turned off.

Zap the P-RAM. Rebuild the desktop with the keys command-option-"P"-"R" held
down while restarting.

Go into the Monitors and Sound control panel and see that the sound's not on
"mute" and that the speakers are chosen as the sound outputs and that all
sound sliders are up above the bottom marks.

If your machine blinks the menu bar at startup the sound is muted or low.

MAybe you bumped something installing the G4?
