Hi, people. I write this time because I want to be able to record CD with my mac but I don't have a CD-R mounted on it. I do have a CD-R in another computer (PC) which is in the same network as the mac. I'd like to know if it is possible to create the image CD in the mac and then record it in the PC.
Nope.
I'm asking this because I have had some problems with the MAC-PC file translation.
Me too.
Sometimes the mac doesn't read files I've burnt in PC, even if they were MAC format files.
The PC's file system is "flat". This means the resource forks on your Mac files are lost when they're put on the PC.
Most jpg and mpg type files have no resource forks, so as long as the file names are Windoze compatible, they'll transfer ok.
For other types of files, the best you can do is to stuff or zip them, transfer the .sit or .zip archive to the PC, and burn that. Then you end up with a CD full of compressed archives that you can decompress on the Mac.
HTH, - Dan.
