<< I have a 2 Gig SCSI hard drive that I want to setup so that it will auto mount. I've found Tools to manually mount and access the drive from an external after the operating system boots from an internal drive, but I want to use this drive as the main boot drive in a system.
The drive is a seagate barracuda 2 Gig ST32550N . Is it possible to use this disk to boot a machine? >> Once mounted have you may be able to initialize the drive with Drive Setup. Drive Setup 2.03 (OS 9) recognizes most non-apple Seagate drives. If you have already done that, be sure the drive is fully spun up before you boot. If it is an external turn it on before your boot. In Drive Setup be sure "Automount on startup" is checked under Volume Settings, found in the Drive Setup Functions menu ->Customize Volumes. Also check the jumper settings for the proper motor start options. You can find product and installation manuals with jumper settings at the Seagate site: http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/specs/techlib.html And enter ST32550N --glen (digest mode). -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
