I got an iffy hard drive inside my 6400, and need to swap it out. From the zone6400 site I picked up all sorts of tricks to pry the front panel off the mac and get to the drive, but so far, no luck. Whenever I pull up on the bottom tabs, it just seems like the plastic will break off before the panel will budge. Pressing down on the center does nothing. Digging with a knife does nothing. Anybody got an ideas?
I take the fronts off my 6400s by prying the front-top panel away at the sides and the top
with a steel letter opener. It leaves marks if you're not very patient.
Once the front-top panel is away, the front lower panel will pry off.
Then accessing a flakey hard drive becomes easy.
