Pardon my asking, but what models of ADB 'boards were conking out on you?
I'd like to know so I can avoid them.
Probably dirty ones...I've got an AppleDesign keyboard on my system at home that I love. They do get dirty and the keys get 'sticky' and need cleaning eventually.
If you're on a quest for a long-lasting keyboard, I highly recommend the old
IBM Model M's. Someone said, "Essentially, if you don't take to one of
these things with a hammer, it'll probably outlast you, even if you spend
all day, every day, typing." No joke; try one and see for yourself.
I replaced the stock keyboard on my Plus a long time ago with a Northgate (before they went from being the best damn keyboard manufacturer in the word to a second rate computer manufacturer to bankruptcy) that I still like, but it's ADB implementation is funky and it really doesn't like modern Macs, alas. That had a feel very similar. to the IBM keyboard.
I know I've read of third parties making both the real old-style 'clicky' keyboards and AppleDesign style keyboards in USB recently, I just don't remember where.
