I've got a problem:(
I use a power mac 6400 as a file server (it's in a 6360
case). A few days ago, I moved it, and decided to connect a
different keyboard to it. The ADB keyboard that I had been
using was one of Apple's Extended keyboards with the ADB
cable built in. I wanted to connect one of the smaller apple
ADB keyboards, but alas I didn't have an extra ADB cable.
So I did what any somewhat intelligent mac head with an
extra S-Video cable lying around would do, I used that.
Now, granted it was a CHEAP cable, I thought nothing of it. I
connected the cable to the computer and I heard the starup
chime!!!! I was a bit surprised, so I manually killed the
power, unplugged the cable, and then unplugged the
power. Then I plugged the S-Vid cable back in and plugged
the CPU back to the wall. Again, I hear a startup chime, so I
killed the power to the computer again, and again I hear the
startup chime... This wasn't going well, so I abandoned the
idea of changing keyboards.
Well, moving right along I decided to put the old keyboard
back on. Things worked as normal, I hit the power button
and the power came back on. Later I actually needed to
manipulate some files on the server, and create a new
folder. It was then that I found my keyboard didn't work!!!!
Now, fortunately I have a USB mouse on this booger that
still works, but it looks like my ADB port is shot. Does
anyone have any ideas as to how to bring it back from the
dead?
