You are right about the important thing! I just noticed that since you had 7 sticks, there must be a slot (which is what I should have said rather than bank), assuming an 8 slot machine, unoccupied. I was just mildly curious as to the role of the empty slot in your troubles: was the trouble sorted when you avoided this slot altogether or something more complex. Don't feel obliged to answer.
