I've been trying to print to 11" x 17" tabloid size (A3) on the HP Color

color prints to US Legal and A4 come out fine. HP's drivers work hand in
hand with Laserwriter 8 driver and the only thing it does is create a
desktop icon.
The 5/5M doesn't print in color at that paper size. One of the PITA limitations of it, but then, it's a very old color printer.
From HP's specification pages on the 5m:
"NOTE: Color printing is available for letter, executive, and A4 sizes only. The 5M printer comes with a letter or A4-sized 250 tray. "
