When I boot off the cd, it works fine. I disabled all the extensions
except iomega driver ( i want to be able to use zip disks), it still
has the error

<<I installed OS 8.5 on my 7500/G3-247.4 last night and now it won't boot.
Right after I get the smiley, it says "A system error occured. Unimplemented
Trap." The computer is running a Rage 128 from my blue and white and using the
drivers installed of the 8.5 disk. >>

It could be an extension conflict.

Does the 7500 boots OK from either the 8.5 install disk or from the HD with
the shift key held down (extensions off). If so, reboot holding down the space
bar until Extensions Manager opens and select the set "Mac OS 8.5 base." If
the 7500 boots from the base set start adding disabled extensions you need until
you find the offending one. Make sure the extension for your G3 card backside
cache is compatible with OS 8.5 and 8.6.

Also check for bad connections. Make sure all Cards, RAM and cables are
seated properly.

Once you get 8.5 working you should download and install the free upgrade to
8.6.

Good luck --glen (digest mode)
