Depends on what your whole system config is like.  First of all you'll need
a graphics card that supports DVD playback i.e. at least a Rage 128 WITH the
daughter card.  

Second if you are running a pre-OSX system then you'll need to find drivers
for your drive.  I don't think the Apple standard DVD drivers will work with
Hitachi.  If it doesn't work then you can either find a hacked driver -- try
xlr8yourmac.com -- OR use Intech's Speedtools DVD driver.
In OS X, Patchburn 1.1 (for Jag) or Patchburn 3 will allow you to play the
drive if it's not natively supported.
