Hi,
In fact, this has been a 5 minutes no problem upgrade.
The processor card worked first time without a glitch.
And concerning Apple System Profiler, it rightly reported a 604e 233 MHz speed in OS 9.1.
Funny that opinions were so different on the same subject.
I hope that my FrenchGlish did not make my question double meaning.
Anyhow, thanks to all that helped,
JCT

You were just advised to proceed cautiously and not do the swap until the CPU architecture was identified. Which you did. So you got what you wanted without harming the motherboard. You won. And anyone who warned you about a possible ' letting the blue smoke out of the box"
situation were trying to save you some money. Many on this list depend on their vintage PPC as their ONLY computer. For them this is not a hobby list. So they proceed as though their computing ability depends on not damaging the CPU.
So welcome to the list and it has already worked for you. As it always does for those patient enough to wait for the answers and information.
