Hello Peter -- Thanks for your response. I don't want to spend any more money on another controller card, so I'll stick with the SIIG ATA 100/133 that I already have.
I am now deciding whether to get the Seagate Barracuda 7200 8MB Cache ATA/100 ($104.99) or the 160GB for $109.95 (from Other World Computing). If either will work just fine, then it sure seems like a much better deal to go for the 160GB. vjamacaddict -- PowerMac 7300/500 > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [PCI] PM 7300/500 HD Size Limit ? >> 1)- Is there a HD size limit for the PM 7300/500? > > No. > If you want super-fast drives, get the LVD/SE version of the ACARD > product, and an LVD/SE SCSI controller, such as the ATTO. >> 2)- Will a very large HD run too slow on the PM 7300/500? > > No. > > All data transfers are "interlocked", and the slowest party to the > conversation determines which speed is actually used. > >> 3)- Could I have a two 120GB HDs, or one 120GB and one 160GB? > > For cost reasons, it is usually best to buy one large drive, rather than > two (or more) small drives. > > You can indeed mix and match drives on a bus, but it is usually best to > segregate the fast drives on one bus and the slow drives on another bus. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
