The price of pre sawtooth Mac's hit rock bottom a while back. 9600's and Beige G3's sell for around right about what paid on a regular basis. At the risk of straying off topic by talking about my other G3. In a former life it was a standard 'Beige G3', now it runs Yellow Dog 4 has a gloss black paint job, and a cool looking Tux the Linux penguin sticker on the front panel... My 6400 has the same paint treatment but instead of Tux it has an Apple logo on the front panel. :) To me the fun of legacy machines is reconditioning them and finding something useful to do with them. I haven't been keeping 168pin, 5volt, 2k refresh, FPM (70ns) or EDO (60ns), DIMMS on hand for awhile now. However I wanted to run 9.1 on the 6400. So I spent about $40 on ram and installed it. I already had a spare 6GB hdd on hand in one of my parts bins. I'm one of those goofy people who never throw out parts that are in working order. Just recently I took a much over due parts inventory decided it was time to toss out all those old NuBus and ISA cards... :) So once those two little upgrades had been done, I repainted the case while it was apart for the upgrades. Put everything back together, installed the OS and my application software. Post reconditioning my 6400 has doing a great job as a word processor and print server... It also makes a really nice MP3's player. Not to mention web surfing Mozilla 1.2.1 extremely well. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
