I'm bored out of my skull, so here goes...

The PowerMac 8500's internal AV-in/out only works under classic Mac
OS's, 7.5.3 through 9.2.2, as those are what the 8500 supports (with
OS9Helper for >9.1). It doesn't work under OS X (neither Classic under
OS X, since that's still OS X), Open Firmware nor Linux.

So why does it only work under Classic OS'es? One or more of these must
be true:
1. The AV access routines are part of the Classic OS.
2. The AV access routines are in the machine's ROM but are dependent
upon the Classic OS

I think that if one of these is true, we can find out where the code is
in Mac OS 7.5.3-9.2.2 to drive the AV in/out is and extract that and
modify that to make an extension for OS X or a module for Linux (or the
UNIX part of OS X, if that would work). What do you guys think?
