Actually, we're both mistaken regarding mobo versions.
The 85/9500's were Nitro boards; the 86/9600 300's are Kansas systems.

I'm wondering if Nitro and TNT were Tsunami variations - anybody know...?
Not terribly important, just curious.

Macworld Mac Secrets 6th edition says that the 9600 300 MHz machines are faster not just because of the faster clock speeds but also the 1 MB L2 cache. My machine has this.

Furthermore Techtool shows it as a Mach 5 CPU.( Tsunami)

The nitro board is different from the Tsunami.
