It seems the last two threads I have started on this list have gone everywhere but to the point.

Well, for one thing, you might try being less vague in your original post. And you might try having more realistic expectations. This list has a lot of people on it, but it's absolutely possible that none of us might have the exact answer to your question that you're looking for.
I asked directly if you wanted to listen to or create audio, but you haven't replied. Without a response, it's difficult to read your mind and understand what you're _really_ asking.
Just what the heck does your starting to "get serious with audio" mean?
You could, of course, try doing research for yourself instead of griping when no one here has the answer you want.

I first posted this about noon on Wednesday. And yes, evidently no one on this list has a sound card in a legacy PPC PCI Mac.
But what is vague about a 9600 runnoing OS 9 ( .1) ?
What is more realistic than a sound card for this machine off the swap list? Most of the rest of the machine came from there including the machine itself.
Since I had written to other listers I guess I thought I had said I wanted to CREATE sound. ( record, process, mix down)
By starting to get serious with audio I mean my study of video production has proceeded from graphics, motion graphics, animation camera, and editing to sound.
And as for :"doing research for yourself" where else on the web would I find a group more experienced with sound cards for Legacy PPC PCI macs ?
Maybe you should get out of the cabin more and you wouldn't be so testy.
