Hello, I'm baaaaack...!
After a hiatus from PCI-Powermacs, I find myself once again in need of your sagacity. My wife's 8500 running OS 9.1 is showing symptoms each night at midnight. The mouse moves, but the system is unresponsive to clicking. This may last 10 minutes or more. Sometimes the hang clears itself, and she is able to proceed. Sometimes, the system freezes and she has to reboot. The timing made me think of Sherlock's "Index Volumes", which runs by default at midnight. So I went to the panel for that, deselected all volumes, and also deselected all days in the "Schedule" panel. [There doesn't seem to be a "never index, I don't use Find by Content" option.] However, even with no indexing scheduled, she still has the problem. I should add that she has been taking an online class, and finds that Intgernet Explorer is the best browser for it, so it is likely that this is the "front" application at midnight. Any ideas, hint, or clues? TIA, -- Joshua -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
