I have a Beige G3 with only 32 MB RAM (More coming) running OS 9.2. The computer has SCSI capacity, but no SCSI appliances internally. There is an internal male SCSI outlet on the board. Could I connect a ribbon to the outlet and use a SCSI hard drive (or two) as well as the IDE hard drive?
Yep, will work fine. I have 2 SCSI drives and an IDE in my beige tower.
But note that the internal IDE has a theoretical maximum throughput of 16.7 MB/s whereas the theoretical maximum throughput of the SCSI on that machine is only 5 MB/s. Unless you're installing a ZIP or tape drive, you're better off installing internal IDE drives, though you're limited to four total assuming you have the Rev. B or C ROM.
