You can get almost anything that is platform independent in javascript. for example, Square roots from http://www.javascriptcity.com/scripts/local/scal1.htm You can have these on your machine off line. You use a browser window. More generally, look at sites like http://dmoz.org/Science/Math/Software/Calculators/ If you are not sure how to get to have these on your computer off line, ask.
