I think it is because they are too small and are a waste of space and that's
all. Why would they fade!

IIRC, people have had problems running X ( using xpostfacto to install it) on pci Macs with some of the older 32 meg Dimms. X is very memory picky. If you are sticking with 9, you should have no problems with 32 meg Modules.
