otherwise fairly reliable 8600 has gone dark...changed pram battery:
no
joy...nothing new added...changed to new/used monitor: no joy
anyone had experience with this sort of symptom?

Sometimes when Macs are recalcitrant about starting up, I find that
pulling the battery out & letting it sit batteryless for a few hours,
or overnight, tends to "focus their attention".
