It is "shift" not "space"

I would say neither are good, so get one that is new and reads at least 3.6

Yes, I would try to do this (I have to try this myself soon)... At least
rearrange them so if any  bits are used for start up it will be different
bits on different chips... a diagnostic route to take

Please inform us about what you do exactly and how it pans out as I am all
ears on this one (suffering terribly with a startup problem of my own)
