I have an old Power Mac 7300/180 with Mac OS 8.6 on it. This
computer has a Vpower G3/300MHz card in the L2 cache slot, that, as
far as I can tell, works independently of any software (except for a
control panel that is used to alter the L2 cache size). I tried
using an OS 9.0 CD I had because I knew it would install on pre-G3
Macs, but time has apparently rendered it too scratched to be read.
I have a collection (almost as big as the Free AOL CDs) of OS 9.2,
9.2.1, and 9.2.2 CDs that I can't use on this Mac b/c it came with a
604. I know that it's possible to use OS 9 Helper to install 9.2
upgrades on non-supported machines, but I haven't seen any
information that involves doing a clean install from the CD.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
