Apple designed the Mach 5 motherboard with a fixed bus speed of 50 MHz and with CPU speeds of 250, 300, 350 and 400 MHz in mind. Only 250, 300 and 350 MHz were ever released; 400 MHz 604ev chips were never made. It is my belief that a 300 MHz or better Mach 5 machine should be left as-is.
