automatically sends everything as 'multipart.' The solution offered by AOL tech

for this list or others. I had to switch to a computer running AOL 5.0 to send
this email.

Yeah, been though AOL user forums on this issue and the even the moderators
were p'd-off that AOL's standard mail client would not send true plain text.

The easiest way is to download AOL Communicator Keyword: Communicator. Once
installed go to AOL Communicator Preferences and click on "Manage Plain Text
Documents" and enter "mail.maclaunch.com" without quotes and any other domains
you want to send plain text to.

Communicator works seamlessly with the standard AOL main client and has more
features.

An alternative is to use OS X mail.app to receive and sent mail from your AOL
account.

1) Using mail.app, create a new account and enter the following settings:
2) Account Type: IMAP
3) email address with @aol.com
4) Incoming Server: imap.aol.com
5) Outgoing: smtp.aol.com
6) Server Port: 587
7) Authentication: password

I have not tried this method so your YMMV.

As you can most like tell from this format, I'm sending this message using
AOL 5.0 (OS 8.6) from one of my older Macs. AOL 5.0 is fine for Email but
useless for most web browsing tasks.
