However, you can't swap MLBs between 8500 and 8600 boxen either, different and incompatible power supplies. Well, you could I guess if you can finagle swapping the power supplies as well. Not worth the bother IMO. As for OS X on PCI Macs, my server is a 9600/G3-450 running Tiger, and it does just fine thank-you-very-much. :-P Sadly, that loverly 300MHz CPU can run only Jaguar at best, and that not very well. Still, it's a rip-snorting OS9 box . . .
