Hi Matt,
I think the legality of making copies has been discussed in =depth=
around here.
However, regarding the process... you can do a straight copy in Toast
or create a .dmg file using Disk Utility and burn that to DVD. There
are some caveats using the .dmg image, but you can google "making
bootable DVD's in OS X" to find what to watch out for.
I made copies both ways to learn just how things work.
