Special General Meeting Minutes October 6, 2007 at Treasure Island Sailing Center called to order by Danielle Richards, PCCSC Undergraduate President
I.Roll Cal Schools Present: Stanford, CSUMB, USC, UCLA, SCU, UCSC, Chapman, UCI, UCSD, UCSB, Cal, CMA II. Budget Review and Changes President Richards proposed a new fee structure with the advisement of Sherri Campbell, PCCSC Treasurer to increase the team fee to $500 for Regular Members, $250 for Provisional, and $150 for Associate. These are increases from $350, $100, and $50. With the increase in team fees, the $25 per team member fee per season would be dropped. The Executive Committee agrees with this new fee structure to keep the district financially solvent. After discussion, a motion was raised and seconded. The resolution to change the fee structure was passed unanimously and will go into effect this Fall 2007 season. III. CMA provided an update to the PCC Sloop Championship to be held in J22s out of Richmond YC on Oct.20-21. CMA will be hosting the South Qualifiers on the 20th and with the district championship to follow shortly after. The charter fee for the day is $50 payable to California Maritime Academy. UCSB gave an update on North-South which is scheduled for Nov. 10-11 out of Santa Barbara YC. An NOR is expected to be released shortly. UCSB suggested several camping options for teams in the area and mentioned that hotels will be difficult so arrangement should be made quickly. IV. USC has offered to be the host for the new ICSA National Semi-Finals on Apr. 26-27. Racing will take place off the pier. The spring Coed PCCs will also be hosted by USC on Apr. 12-13. Teams finishing 1st and 3rd will compete in the West ICSA Qualifier at USC and the 2nd and 4th place Coed finishing team will travel to Hobart-William Smith for the East ICSA Qualifier. It was suggested the tickets be purchased early for the two East teams because of the tight travel conditions to Hobart in rural NY. More will be discussed at the Spring Meeting in February. A team race qualifer was mentioned but discussion was moved to the spring scheduling meeting. Women's PCCs will be hosted by Univ of Hawaii on Apr. 19-20 V. New Business: UCLA made notice that the UCLA Team Race, originally scheduled for Nov.3-4 will have to be moved to Nov. 17-18 because of a Crew regatta. A motion was brought forward to approve Associate Membership to UC-Davis and Point Loma Nazarene University. The motion passed unanimously. Jay Kehoe of Stanford is proposing a spring clinic/regatta weekend at new Associate member Arizona State. The event will have a clinic on Saturday and an invitational regatta on Sunday. More information will be available later in the semester. Amy Gross-Kehoe outlined the new Season-Competition Limits set forth by the ICSA Competition Committee. PCCSC teams aren't likely to be affected during the fall season but it was encouraged for each team to look closely at the new rule for the Spring 2008 season.
