All--
As many of you are aware, Southern California is engulfed in flames,
smoke and ash--San Diego in particular. As a result, the quality of air
has severely diminished over the past few days. I have been receiving
phone calls and emails about the status of the regatta this coming
Saturday & Sunday, the 27th and 28th of October. Here is the plan:
As of right now the Frosh/Soph regatta will continue as planned--NO
changes in the NOR. We will continue to monitor the weather, air and
fire conditions in the area surrounding San Diego County (including the
routes in and out of the county). If conditions have failed to improve
by Thursday at 12:00 PM (noon), I will officially cancel the regatta due
to health/safety interests related to transportation to/from the San
Diego area and the quality of air at Mission Bay. However, teams should
still plan to attend this weekend unless that issuance has been sent.
In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made by UC San
Diego and the PCCSC Board of Directors to reschedule the event.
However, no date has yet been set.
I apologize for this inconvenience. Further questions can be directed
to me.
