The powers that be of the University of California, San Diego have
ordered a mandatory cancellation of all school events for the week and
this weekend. This, unfortunately, includes the sports clubs department
of which we are a part, so I regret to inform that we have been forced
to cancel the Frosh/Soph regatta in Mission Bay this weekend.
However, all is not lost: Dana Jones and the UC Santa Barbara Sailing
Team have graciously offered to host the regatta in Santa Barbara Harbor
on the same dates. However, this regatta cannot happen unless teams are
able to attend. Thus, I would like to see by a show of hands (or
replies to this email) who will be able to attend a Frosh/Soph in Santa
Barbara this weekend, October 27th & 28th. Please let me know:
1) Can your team can attend?
2) how many boats will you be entering?
3) how many boat charters do you need?
4) Contact information for your team representative
This information will help me ensure that every team who is able to can
attend. We'd like to keep our turnout as great as it was going to be in
San Diego (~33 boats!!), so I am willing to do whatever we can to help
your team get there. UCSB does have some boats available for charter,
and I've already reserved the same number of charters that were
requested for the venue in San Diego (including CMA, ASU, Cal Poly, CSUN
and Pt. Loma Naz.) However, if you're able to tow to SB, it is
encouraged so that those who DO need charters can get them. I know how
great of a recruiting tool this is for many schools, so let's make it
happen!
