TEAMS & SAILORS:
Please update your eligibility for Spring 2008!
I see that the Spring 2008 season is now listed on all teams' ICSA
individual
databases. It is time for team directory administrators to update members
for the new season or individual sailors update themselves.
The following was reconfirmed at the ICSA winter meeting in Park City, UT on
1/12/08.
Procedural Rule 12a states that "...all competitors shall be full-time
undergraduate students enrolled in the college they represent and SHALL BE
REGISTERED WITH THEIR ICSA CONFERENCE ASSOCIATION." (My caps). This
means that if a
competitor is not updated for the Spring 2008 season he/she is an ineligible
sailor. Sailors in the "Inactive" list are also in ineligible status.
As a result, Procedural Rule 15b (Penalty for Use of Ineligible Student)
shall be enforced and the penalty "...shall be disqualification and
re-scoring
of the affected races."
Therefore, it is in the interest of all teams to see that their sailors are
properly registered for the Spring 2008 season as soon as possible and
before
participating in any spring regatta. The first regatta is February 2-3
with
regattas somewhere in ICSA from then on.
