Hello PCCSC--
8 schools (18 boats) turned out for the regatta hosted by UC San Diego last
weekend in Mission Bay. Thanks to all who attended (sailing or not) and for
helping us make such a worthy occasion such a great success. A very special
thanks to the Simon family for their generous contribution to the event
including the regatta dinner on Saturday night and the event t-shirts with
the beautiful design by Kat Schultz and Chrissy Corcoran of UCSD.
Also many thanks to MBYC for use of their motor boats and facilities, West
Marine Point Loma for their generous support, Dana Jones for running the
crash boat on Sunday, Ryan Lorence for scoring and course setting and
Danielle Richards for advice.
And of course, hands down congratulations to John Heineken, Christina
Nagatani, Matt Foster and Jessica Barhydt of UC Santa Barbara for winning
both events. Thanks to West Marine Point Loma for outfitting the winning
team with new spray tops and gear bags.
Last but not least, thanks to Jeff Simon for sharing your life with us.

I apologize for the delay in scoring, due to missing RP information that was
partially recovered and used to the best of our abilities . Because of the
weather conditions of Sunday, the RP forms on shore were relatively
inaccessible and consequently some teams did not fill out any RP information
for the South 2 regatta. Since this error was not at fault of the
sailors/coaches, we used a combination of RP info that *had* been submitted
for Sunday and what we believed to be correct from the RP forms of Saturday
to fill the gaps.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: Saturday started off as a typical Mission Bay morning
with sunny
skies changing to overcast cloud cover. Light winds building out of the
east shut off
and clocked around to a 2-5 knot westerly allowing us to get off 2 races in
each
division before shutting off. The remaining race for each division was
sailed the
next morning in a steady 6-10 knot south-westerly before the beginning of
the day 2
regatta.
