2009 South Series 3 and 4
NOTICE OF RACE 1. VENUE This event is hosted by the UC Santa Barbara Sailing team and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference in Santa Barbara, CA. 2. DATES February 14 and 15, 2009 3. RULES The regatta will be governed by: the ICSA Procedural Rules the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of sailing; the prescriptions of US Sailing; the Sailing Instructions; and this Notice of Race. 4. HOUSING A. HOTELS: Try searching in nearby Goleta or Carpinteria for better deals. B. STUDENT HOUSING: Contact John Heineken, (415) 497 1789 or [email protected], for VERY limited space with the UCSB team. C. CAMPING: Campgrounds are abundant in Santa Barbara County. We recommend anything available between El Capitan State Beach and Ventura. 5. FORMAT AND ELIGIBILITY All PCCSC teams in good standing are eligible to sail. Two divisions of FJs will be sailed A and B will sail FJs on rotation. JV will sail with Varsity, with no limit on the number of teams per school. 6. BOATS AND SAILS Each team is responsible for bringing 1 PCCSC FJ. There will be no boat rotation, teams sail their own boats. Each Varsity boat must use the assigned PCCSC sail numbers, including jib numbers. JV teams are responsible for having numbers other than those assigned to varsity teams. 7. CHARTERS A limited number of charter FJs may be available from UCSB and will be distributed based on distance traveled, then order of request. We ask that teams make every effort to provide their own boats. 8. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Saturday 0930 Report time 1000 Competitors meeting 1100 First warning Sunday 1000 Report Time 1100 First warning No Starting Signal After 1600 9. SAILING AREA The sailing area will be the Santa Barbara Channel. 10. DOCUMENTATION Complete, signed RP forms will be required for scoring for al teams. 11. CAMPING AND PARKING CHARGES Boat launching fees, camping fees, lodging fees, and vehicle parking fees are the responsibility of each team/competitor. 12. PARKING RULES Trailers and boats on dollies must stay within the designated area for the duration of the event. Boats may not be left outside that area on dollies or at the launch ramp dock unless launching or hauling out. Please cooperate with all parking regulations and requests from SB City Parking Dept. staff. The designated parking area will be in the launch ramp lot, nearest to Cabrillo Blvd. 13. DIRECTIONS From LA: US 101 North to Santa Barbara Exit Garden St, Turn Left Turn Right onto Cabrillo Blvd Turn Left onto Harbor Way Bear Left immediately into city parking (fee area) Proceed past 2 gates to the Launch Ramp From SF: US 101 South to Santa Barbara Exit Castillo St, turn Right Turn Right onto Cabrillo Blvd Turn Left onto Harbor Way Bear Left immediately into city parking (fee area) Proceed past 2 gates to the Launch Ramp 14. LIABILITY INSURANCE All teams and individuals are required to have proper liability insurance for boats and vehicles. 15.
