PCCSC SAILORS OF THE WEEK
FALL ‘10
Each week of the regular season, the PCCSC selects Sailors of the Week
for outstanding performances in Coed, Women's and Team Racing
Competition. The categories for the awards will be Coed sailor of the
week, which could just be skipper or crew or both skipper and crew,
Women’s sailor of the week, which could just be skipper or crew or
both skipper and crew. To be a Women’s sailor of the week you must be
on a team that is all women including both divisions, the sailor can
be sailing a coed regatta but they must have a full women’s team.
During the spring season only we may also name a Team of the week for
a team’s performance in any team race regatta.
You are part of the process! Each Monday we will accept nominations
from the sailors and coaches of the conference for Sailor of the week
awards. All nominees will be mentioned along with the Winners.
Please participate and be part of recognizing great performances by

Week #7
Women’s Sailor of the Week: Molly McKinney ’14, Stanford University
Molly Traveled to St. Pete Florida this weekend to compete in the 2010
ICSA Singlehanded nationals. Molly fought hard in three days of
20kts. To place 6th at Nationals. Molly battled with the top girls
all weekend. Congrats!
Coed Sailor of the Week: Cal Maritime Academy, Offshore Team
Congrats to CMA after coming back from a successful trip in France
representing the US at the Student Yachting World cup they hoped right
back into a Navy 44 at Navy for the 2010 Kennedy Cup, known as the
“Big Boat” College nationals. They came close to repeating last years
performance but still finished a strong 2nd place. CMA started slow
but picked up the pace throughout the event to clinch 2nd. Congrats
to CMA!!!
Around the conference:
This past weekend The Stanford Freshman were on the road at the
Freshman Intersectional at Conn. College where they won by 35pts. Also
four PCCSC sailors traveled to St. Pete FL for the ICSA singlehanded
nationals the Women’s Sailors were Molly McKinney, finished 6th, and
Sally Mace, finished 9th both from Stanford. On the men’s side Oliver
Toole from Stanford finished 13th and Sean Kelly from CMA finished
8th. Congrats to all of them. Also, in Santa Barbara UCSB hosted a
great team Race with talks from college sailing alum Kevin Richards on
team racing and rules. This was a great event to get young teams in
our conference team racing and having fun.
Coming up this weekend is the big fall championship the Fall PCCSC
Champs, formal known as North-South. This event is at UCSB every year
and features the best from each team in the PCCSC and some other teams
around the country. This year UCSB will be defending their home turf
and their title from last year. Hawaii will be looking to continue
their winning ways after winning Stoney Burke. Also, UCLA ‘s strong
young team will be looking to prove their for real after a strong
Stoney Burke outing. This is just the second Coed dinghy event of the
fall and it’s a big one!!
