The California Maritime Academy is a specialized campus of the California State University (CSU) system serving a student population of approximately 850. The campus, situated on the shore of the Carquinez Strait 30 miles northeast of San Francisco, currently offers baccalaureate degrees in five disciplines and includes licensing programs for future merchant marines, coast guard and naval reserve officers. The Athletic Department at the California Maritime Academy is currently accepting applications for a coaching position for the 2010-2011 academic year, with the possibility of annual reappointment dependent upon performance and budget considerations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct all aspects of an intercollegiate dinghy sailing program competing as a member of the Pacific Coast College Sailing Conference (PPCCSC) racing FJ's and Lasers. Responsibilities include inside recruiting, all phases of preparation for competition, including conducting daily practices, program development, and establishment of a strong academic support environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree preferred * Four years successful sailing experience at the collegiate level * Five years coaching experience * Demonstrated ability to conduct recruitment of student/athletes or willingness to receive training towards athletic recruitment * US Sailing certification or willing to become certified SALARY COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
