Hi PCMan, It's good so see you back to LXDE list :) 2011/1/25 PCMan <[email protected]>: > 3. LXPanel is previously maintained by Marty Jack. So now a new > maintainer is needed.
It's IMO one of the most complex piece of LXDE environment, and considering the lack of developers, maybe it should be co-maintained by all in the meantime ? > 4. The session manager is more or less in a half-done status. Too bad. :-( I worked on a rewrite of the lxsession in Vala, mostly to learn Vala and to implement Dbus backend easily (the GObject and C is quite paintfull :)). It's still no ready to replace lxsession, but the D-Bus works good, it's able to reboot/restart etc ... using a lxde Interface, and a fallback to a fake gnome-session Interface. So, it's possible to be compatible with all applications using gnome-session API for reboot/restart etc ... > After doing seaching again and again on google and RTFM for many > times, there doesn't seem to be a reasonable and desktop-independent > way to handle locking. You can use "xdg-screensaver --lock", it should be desktop-independant like other xdg commands. > The goals of next month: > 1. Like GNOME, XFCE is a very integrated desktop, with each component depending on some specific shared XFCE library. I don't think LXDE will gain much by following this path. One of the best features of LXDE is that we can change more easily most of the components. By being close to XDG standard and GLib / GTK functions, LXDE can keep this advantage :) > > 4.
