I think we should aim for cmake integration before the next release (which is still some way off), but not necessarily before you commit it. So go ahead, commit it. I have made a note to look at it once you have committed it. I am pretty much a cmake novice, but I can sometimes manage simple upgrades, and I can start with Stephen Kelly's implementation (thanks, Stephen).
