I have just tried the 10.23 release on the only Solaris box to which I have
access, and it ran "./configure" without problems. This box is running:
SunOS login 5.10 Generic_150400-17 sun4v sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise-T5220
I'm not knowledgeable about Solaris. Have you tried Googling? There seem to be
some previous discussions about this. I suspect some component is not
installed. It mentions "ar" missing. On the machine I've just tested this seems
to be in /usr/ccs/bin/ar rather than /usr/bin/ar, which is where it is in my
Linux box. Perhaps you need to add /usr/ccs/bin to your PATH? I see that is is
in my PATH on the Solaris box.
