It seems very reasonable to me, so I have put it on the Wish List. Your suggestion for implementation looks good too, though I have not yet studied the code in detail. However, your timing is bad, because 10.34 has only very recently been released, so unless there is a pressing reason to put out a new release, it will be at least 6 months before 10.35 (we don't like to overburden packagers with too frequent releases).
