Interesting discussion. Clark, used to be one of the librarians at the
Sheldon branch library. He was always very cordial and helpful and we
were sad to see him move on to the Downtown branch. (I had no idea he
was related to Superman.)

I think the user group should be pleased that the library wanted to link
to the user group site and that Clark was courteous enough to ask.
Common courtesy appears to be lacking in many businesses and intuitions
these days.

I don't know Ward. You might Google Web etiquette. There might be some
insights there. John

It's not nice to make fun of someone's name. Superman would never do
that!!

But seriously, is it necessary or proper to ask before putting a link
to someone's site? I assumed that people want you to link to their
site. I made a list of links to other sites at my website
(http://freeselectivesingles.com/otherdatingservices.php). Was I not
supposed to do that?

I'd ask Lois Lane to go to the Library and check out this guy before
committing.

Greetings! My name is Clark, and I'm a library assistant at the Eugene
Public Library. I'm currently creating a new web page for our site that
will focus on our computer books, magazines and databases. There will
also be a section on local resources. With your permission, I would like
to add your web site to a list of local community links. These links are
currently limited to our online internet signup site, a notice of
wireless access at the library, and a list of institutions that offer
computer classes. Please let me know if linking to you would be okay, or
if you have any questions about the nature of the forthcoming web page.

Thanks,Clark KentEugene Public Library541-682-6616

Hi everyone,
I have met Clark, but didn't know his last name is Kent. He helped me
install the library software to be able to download audio books to my
laptop. He's very nice.
Since EPCUG is open to everyone, I don't see any reason to not include
our
group in the list of community resources. Although, because I had the
experience once of a small group being completely ruined by a new
person, I
confess I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure it will be ok.
Annie
