Helene, I use RAM Idle to keep physical memory available to your system.
It's free, easy to use, and has a positive impact on the performance of your
PC. Set it to free up a selected amount of memory when available memory
falls below a specific level. You can also set it to free up a selected
amount of memory at a regular interval, or you can free up memory manually
as needed. You can even limit automated memory recovery to periods when your
CPU is idle. Other features include Windows cache optimization, audio
support, and a system resource monitor. Note: This is the Windows 9x/Me
version; a version for Windows NT is also available.
